Luis de la Calle

Luis de la Calle  is Managing Director of De la Calle, Madrazo, and Mancera, S.C. and former Managing Director for Mexico at Public Strategies, Inc.  He previously served as undersecretary for international trade negotiations in Mexico 's Ministry of the Economy, a position to which he was appointed by both President Vicente Fox and former President Ernesto Zedillo. In this capacity he negotiated Mexico 's free trade agreement with the European Union, along with a host of other bilateral and multilateral agreements. During his time as undersecretary he was permanent advisor to Pemex exploration and production division and to the national forest commission; he was also the executive secretary of the national foreign investment commission.

He is widely recognized as an expert in international trade and has worked for many years to promote Mexico 's interests abroad. Luis de la Calle was instrumental in crafting and implementing the North American Free Trade Agreement while at the Mexican Embassy in Washington , D.C.

Luis de la Calle also worked at the World Bank as country economist for the Czech and Slovak Republics , Poland , and the former Zaire.
