IPCPolicy Areas
To promote a more open and equitable global food system, IPC concentrates its analysis on three areas of food and agricultural trade policy. In its examination of Agricultural Trade Negotiations, IPC determines the impacts of multilateral, regional, and bilateral trade proposals and agreements on participants in international trade.
It also explores the consequences of national Agricultural and Rural Development Policies on trade liberalization. Lastly, IPC devotes attention to Food Technology and Standards, which can ensure food safety and increase the efficiency of food production, but which can also be used as non-tariff barriers to trade. By focusing its analysis on these three policy initiatives, IPC pursues pragmatic trade and development policies in food and agriculture to meet the world’s growing needs.
