The Role of Standards in Global Food Trade
Washington, DC
The Cosmos Club
September 24, 2007
4:00-5:30 p.m.
Hosted by
The World Food Law Institute, the International Food & Agricultural Trade Policy Council (IPC) and the American Society of International Law.
Although attention during the Doha Round agricultural negotiations has focused on tariffs and quotas, standards play an equally, if not more important role in global food trade. Ms. Gretchen Stanton, Secretary of the WTO’s Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Committee, spoke about standards in global food trade and about key topics before the SPS Committee. Mr. C. Christopher Parlin of Miller Chevalier LLP and Mr. Mark Mansour of Foley & Lardner LLP served as commentators.
