The Future of Agriculture:  A Global Dialogue Among Stakeholders

May 30-31, 2008

Hall of the Consuls (“Saló dels Cónsuls”)
Gothic Building of the Llotja de Mar of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce

Barcelona, Spain

At a time of rapid and critical changes in technology, markets and environmental and social conditions affecting agriculture, the International Chair WTO/Regional Integration, University of Barcelona (IC), the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) and the Internantional Food & Agricultural Trade Policy Council (IPC) organized a dialogue to analyze the underlying causes of these changes and explore prospects for sustainability.

The dialogue will convened academics, politicians, officials from governments and international organizations, and  representatives from civil society organisations and the business sector. This dialogue sought to bridge the gap among these communities in order to promote a debate on the main issues related to the future of agriculture and enrich the capacity of both the private and the public sectors to make practical decisions in agricultural and trade policy.
