The European Union is undertaking preparations for the accession of ten former centrally planned economies to the fifteen-member Union.  Many of the acceding countries have significant agricultural sectors, which will impact the Union’s agricultural policy making into the future.

At the same time, the agricultural negotiations under the Doha Round of WTO negotiations will determine the framework for agricultural and trade policy making in all Member Countries over the next decade.

Moehler will discuss likely impacts of accession, the European Union’s position in the Doha Round, and other issues of interest to trans-Atlantic agricultural relations.
